To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services how many day care places for the elderly mentally infirm are currently available in the National Health Service in each regional health authority; and if he will express the figure per head of the population aged 75 years and over for each region.

[holding answer 14 July 1988]: I regret that the information is not available in the form requested. The numbers of patients aged 75 years and over attending a day hospital or a day centre at a main hospital are given in the table, together with the rate per 100,000 population aged 75 and over.
