HC Deb 25 January 1988 vol 126 c50W
Mr. McFall

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many civilians residing in Dumbarton district are presently employed on the expansion of facilities at Faslane and Coulport.

Mr. Chope

[holding answer 11 January 1988]: I understand from the contractors and consultants concerned that about 800 of their employees on the Clyde submarine base development have addresses in Dumbarton district. In addition, about 100 civilian Government employees engaged full-time on the development have addresses in Dumbarton district. Comparable figures for the Strathclyde region as a whole are about 1,650 and 100 respectively.
