HC Deb 25 January 1988 vol 126 cc46-7W
Mr. Porter

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the implications for his Department's(a) planning and (b) spending on measures to protect the environment of recent projections published by the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys that East Anglia will have in the next 13 years the greatest proportionate population increase of both people moving in and of new births of any English region.

Mr. Waldegrave

Both the plans and expenditure of bodies concerned with the protection of the environment, are subject to regular procedures of review and revision. I am sure that at the next occasion for review the bodies concerned, including where appropriate my Department, will want to take into account revised population projections from the OPCS wherever they are relevant to their proposals.
