HC Deb 15 January 1988 vol 125 c457W
Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement concerning the withdrawal of the operators' licences to fly to and from the London City airport and Paris.

Mr. Channon

The Civil Aviation Authority provisionally suspended the operation of flights between London City airport and Paris on 18 December pending the outcome of an inquiry into the safety of these flights in south-east air space. The conclusions of the inquiry, which the CAA announced today, recommend three alternative routes to Paris, and the airline operators concerned have confirmed that they consider themselves competent to operate flights on those routes.
