HC Deb 15 January 1988 vol 125 cc456-7W
Mr. Jopling

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will publish up-to-date figures for traffic flows, including figures for heavy lorries, for the road passing through Kirkby Stephen between Tebay and Brough; and by how much they have increased in recent years.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The A685 is a local road for which Cumbria county council is the highway authority. The 1986 annual average daily traffic flows were about 2,900 vehicles to the east of Tebay and about 4,600 just north of Kirkby Stephen, both including approximately 11 per cent. goods vehicles. During the 1980s, flows have increased by about 4 per cent. per annum.
