HC Deb 11 January 1988 vol 125 c136W
Mr. John Browne

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what are the design traffic flows in the A2 Rochester Way relief road and the A20 Sidcup bypass.

Mr. Channon

The Rochester Way relief road was designed by the Greater London council which estimated in 1980 that the busiest section of the road, when opened, would carry 3,900 vehicles per hour (westbound) in the morning peak and that off-peak and eastbound morning peak figures would be approximately 1,500 vehicles per hour.

The A20 Sidcup bypass improvement scheme was designed for 41,000 vehicles two-way per 16-hour day including a maximum of 4,200 vehicles per hour during the morning peak (1991 figures) on the busiest section between Frognal corner and Crittalls corner.
