§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe latest estimate of the final cost of the A1(M) Hatfield tunnel is £30 million. The two M25 tunnels at Holmesdale near Waltham Cross and Bell common, south of Epping, cost £19.45 million and £14.82 million respectively. These figures are for the civil engineering, mechanical and electrical works. They exclude land-compensation costs and the costs of the actual carriageways through the tunnels.
