HC Deb 29 February 1988 vol 128 c405W
Dr. Cunningham

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what plans he has to make additional transport infrastructure investment available in the Drigg area of West Cumbria, following the decision last year to make Drigg Britain's only low-level radioactive waste site.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

We were already planning several major and minor schemes to deal with problem points on the A595/6 trunk route which serves Drigg. We shall take account of the volume of Drigg traffic as necessary in preparing these and any future proposals.

Investment in local roads and rail access are matters for Cumbria county council and British Rail respectively.
