To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what has been the decrease in Scottish unemployment since January 1987; and if he will make a statement.

Between January 1987 and January 1988 seasonally adjusted unemployment in Scotland fell by over 42,000 and is now at its lowest level since April 1983.
