§ Mr. AshdownTo ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he will list the reports of incidents at Hinkley Point power station from 1985 to date, indicating(a) in which cases the alarm was sounded and (b) in which cases the alarm failed to sound.
§ Mr. Michael SpicerSince 1985 there have been three incidents at the Hinkley Point site reported to the Health and Safety Executive's nuclear installations inspectorate under the arrangements reported to Parliament on 26 July 1982 and revised on 30 April 1987. These occurred on 25 October 1985, 29 November 1985 and 31 October 1986, and details are included in the Health and Safety Executive's quarterly statement on nuclear incidents, copies of which are available in the Library of the House. Only the incident on 29 November 1985 included the declaration of a site incident requiring the sounding of the site's sirens, and I am advised that they performed satisfactorily.
