HC Deb 16 February 1988 vol 127 cc577-8W
36. Mr. Flannery

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he has any plans to meet representatives of the teachers unions to discuss future arrangements for the determination of pay and conditions; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Rumbold

Responses to the Green Paper en titled "Teachers' Pay and Conditions" are still being received in the Department. No meetings to discuss future arrangements with the teacher unions have yet been fixed.

45. Mr. Matthew Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received concerning the resources available to meet the next teachers pay settlement.

Mrs. Rumbold

The rate support grant settlement for 1988–89 allows fully for the cost of a teachers pay settlement consistent with the remit which my right hon. Friend has given to the Interim Advisory Committee on school teachers' pay and conditions.
