§ Mr. DunnIt is for each LEA to determine its own policy in respect of pre-school provision. Each LEA makes its own decisions on pre-school provision for children with special educational needs in the light of any consultations leading up to statements of special educational need, and of the appropriateness of any pre-school provision available to them.
§ Mr. Ronnie CampbellTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will list for Northumberland education authority the proportion of the total number of under fives in pre-school education represented by(a) three-year-olds and (b) four-year-olds; and how many vacancies there are.
§ Mr. DunnThe proportions of the total number of pupils under five attending maintained nursery and primary schools in Northumberland in January 1987 who were aged three anti four were 34 per cent. and 59 per cent. respectively.
Information on the number of vacant nursery or primary places is not collected centrally.
