HL Deb 08 December 1988 vol 502 c752WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will reconsider their answer to a supplementary question by Lord Jenkins of Putney on 14th November [H.L. Deb col. 835], and whether they consider that there is any truth in the allegation that officers of the security services planned to destabilise the Labour Government in the 1970s.

Earl Ferrers

I agree with the reply which was given to the noble Lord's question. As my noble friend the Lord Privy Seal said, the allegations relating to the Government of the noble Lord, Lord Wilson of Rievaulx, were fully dealt with in a Statement which was made by my right honourable friend the Prime Minister in another place on 6th May last year and which was repeated in your Lordships' House on the same day by my noble friend Lord Whitelaw. I have nothing to add to that Statement.
