HL Deb 08 December 1988 vol 502 c752WA
Lord Northfield

asked her Majesty's Government:

Whether they can give a firm date when the Firearms Act 1968, as amended, will be published in Statutes in Force; and whether they can now announce their plans for introducing a consolidated Firearms Act.

The Minister of State, Home Office (Earl Ferrers)

A cumulative supplement to that part of theStatutes in Force covering firearms and explosives, incorporating textual amendments to the Firearms Act 1968, is due to be produced next spring. The Government accept that it would be desirable to consolidate existing firearms legislation within a single Act. We propose to do this as soon as possible after the provisions of the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988 have been brought into force.
