(2) if he will list the representations he has received in favour of the proposed changes in the funding of passenger transport authorities;

Mr. Cousins

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport (1) if he will list the responses he has received to his letter, headed "Proposed changes in financing of passenger transport authorities";

(2) if he will make available in the Library copies of all the responses received to his letter, headed "Proposed changes in the financing of passenger transport authorities".

Mr. David Mitchell

Those who made the 45 written responses to the discussion paper are listed as follows. Almost all were opposed. Thirteen hon. Members have also written to me about it. I have discussed the proposal with representatives of the Association of Metropolitan Authorities and hon. Members representing constituencies in Greater Manchester.

Copies of all the written responses received up to 30 March were placed in the Libraries of both Houses on that day, as I announced in my reply of that date to my hon. Friend the Member for Birmingham, Northfield (Mr. King). I am today placing copies of subsequent responses in the Libraries of both Houses.
