HC Deb 02 November 1987 vol 121 c605W
Sir Eldon Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what steps he has taken to give effect to recommendation 41 of the Edmund-Davies report as accepted by the Government of the day; what machinery he has established through the Police Advisory Board to give effect to this recommendation; and when the Police Advisory Board for Northern Ireland last discussed this matter.

Mr. Stanley

The intention of recommendation 42 was to ensure that the police receive all the relevant benefits of industrial legislation. The Police Federation for Northern Ireland first raised recommendation 41 as a potential point for discussion by the Police Advisory Board on II May 1987 and the request is still receiving consideration.
