HC Deb 02 November 1987 vol 121 cc605-6W
Mr. Jim Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland which organisations have been informed of the possible loss of Government funding for ACE workers or other projects because of their present or proposed uses of the Conway mill buildings in West Belfast; and what changes such organisations were advised to take if they wished to retain such funding.

Mr. Stanley

Three organisations were informed of the possible loss of Government funding because of their use of the Conway mill facilities. To name them might place individuals involved with them at risk. The organisations concerned were advised to relocate.

Mr. Jim Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will give the reasons for withdrawing ACE funding from the Twinbrooke tenants and community association; and what arrangements will be made for provision of a comparable service to the local community in the future.

Mr. Stanley

ACE funding was withheld in accordance with the Government's policy as stated in the reply given by my right hon. Friend the then Secretary of State for Northern Ireland on 27 June 1985, at column 451. Discussions have taken place with two other groups about the provision of similar services in this area.
