asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will list the projects on the use of alternative energies to oil his Department is sponsoring or funding; and if he will make a statement.

We have supported several studies of processes for producing synthetic liquid fuels as alternatives to oil. However, results have indicated that liquid fuels produced by such processes would be far more expensive than oil or fuels derived from natural feedstocks, such as natural gas.
