HC Deb 02 November 1987 vol 121 c524W
16. Mr. Yeo

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what is the latest forecast for coal output for 1987.

Mr. Michael Spicer

Forecasts of coal output are a matter for the British Coal Corporation. However, coal production by the corporation and its licensees in the 12 months to 10 October 1987 totalled 102 million tonnes. The figure for the calendar year 1987 is not likely to be greatly different.

21. Mr. Riddick

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will give details of the financial support the Government are planning for the coal industry.

Mr. Parkinson

Over the three years to 1989–90, the Government expect to provide finance of over £2 billion to the coal industry.
