HC Deb 15 July 1987 vol 119 c556W
Mr. Matthew Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he proposes to complete the guidance on measures to be taken in areas where radon gas is a problem for the construction of new buildings.

Mr. Trippier

Full guidance will depend on the results of the two-year study being carried out by the Building Research Establishment. Meanwhile, my Department has held a meeting with building control officers in Devon and Cornwall. On the basis of information, they and the National House-Building Council are providing about common constructions in the region, and the best advice currently available, interim guidance will be made available in the autumn.
