§ Mr. Dewarasked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects the Kymmene-Stromberg paper mill at Irvine to become fully operational; how many permanent (a) full-time and (b) part-time jobs it will provide; and over what time scale those jobs will become available.
§ Mr. RifkindThe Kymmene Stromberg paper mill at Irvine is expected to come into operation during 1989 and to be employing around 430 full-time people by the end of that year. When fully operational in 1991 the mill is expected to employ 480 people full-time. No part-time employment is envisaged. The building of the plant will also provide a boost for the local construction industry providing at present over 1,000 jobs.
