HC Deb 02 February 1987 vol 109 c534W
Mr. Martin

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish a list of all organisations and companies that responded to his Department's consultation paper of October 1986 on the Scottish building regulations; how many organisations and companies were in favour of the proposal to exclude section 'N' dealing with electrical installation work; and how many were against.

Mr. Ancram

Copies of all responses are available for inspection on a public file held in St. Andrew's House library. Not all of these can be classified simply as endorsing or opposing the deletion of part 'N' from the regulations. However, some 18 expressed clear views against its removal and seven in favour.

On balance, having taken account of the opinions of the consultees and of the views of the Building Standards Advisory Committee, I have decided to retain this statutory safeguard.
