HC Deb 17 December 1987 vol 124 c655W
Mr. Cummings

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence when the maintenance and repair of ordnance in the Munster garrison of the British Army of the Rhine is to be carried out under cover and within modern workshops; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Freeman

The improvement of the maintenance and repair facilities at Waterloo barracks, Munster is presently planned for the mid-1990s. This is part of a long-term programme of work to modernise working conditions in many of those barracks we occupy in BAOR which were not designed for the sophisticated and heavy equipment now in service. The work has to compete with other priorities within the Army budget and this project must in turn compete with other building demands in BAOR. All priorities are kept under regular review, but I do not see any prospect yet for bringing this project forward in the programme.
