Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will publish a table showing for each of the health authorities in Wales the number of(a) full-time and (b) part-time staff who are employed on administration for the latest date for which figures are available, together with corresponding figures for each of the past seven years.

Mr. Grist

The requested information, which relates to all administrative and clerical staff employed by health authorities in Wales at 30 September each year, is given in the following table.

council; and if he will make a statement on the finance made available over the past five years and in the settlement year 1988–89 for its transport programme.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Information on traffic volumes in the Dyfed county council area is not available but I have recently met representatives of Dyfed county council to discuss other highway matters.

Since 1983–84 capital allocations to the county council for expenditure supported by transport supplementary grant have totalled £22.9 million. The 1988–89 TSG settlement for Dyfed amounts to £1.904 million. Since 1985–86 provision for transport expenditure falling outside the TSG criterion has been covered by the overall formula capital allocations to counties for all other services. From 1985–86 for Dyfed these amounted to £28.6 million. For 1988–89 the provision is £11.1 million.
