Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what information he has as to whether the Data Protection Registrar has used his powers under section 36(5) of the Data Protection Act to report on how the use of personal data collected for the community charge affects his functions of supervising the workings of the Data Protection Act.

Mr. Lang

In his third annual report to Parliament in July 1987, made in accordance with section 36(5) of the Data Protection Act 1984, the Data Protection Registrar commented at page 4 on community charge registers.
