HC Deb 09 December 1987 vol 124 cc199-200W
Mrs. Ray Michie

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has any plans to introduce case-control studies of childhood cancers in the areas around the Holy Loch, Hunterston and Chapelcross/Wigton Bay and Dounreay.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

The study carried out by the information and statistics division of the Common Services Agency for the Scottish Health Service into the incidence of leukaemia in under 25 year olds throughout Scotland has been passed to the Committee on Medical Aspects of Radiation in the Environment for its expert advice on how best to proceed. I shall be considering further investigations, such as case-control studies, on the basis of their advice.
