HC Deb 01 December 1987 vol 123 c537W
Mr. Hanley

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science to what extent his Department uses recycled paper or provides paper for recycling.

Mrs. Rumbold

None at present. I understand that British-made recycled paper suitable for general stationery purposes is available from Her Majesty's Stationery Office but that supplies are limited and prices uncompetitive when compared with wood-free printing and writing quality paper. I understand further that Her Majesty's Stationery Office will continue to encourage the greater use of recycled fibre in the paper it purchases.

Waste paper from the Department is collected by contractors and may be used for recycling.
