To ask the Secretary of State for Employment when the review of the industrial language training service will be completed; when he will begin consulting other interested bodies, including local authorities, over the future of the industrial language training service; and when he expects to announce a decision on the future funding of the industrial language training service.

In the light of the issues raised in the review of the industrial language training service and subsequent consultations, I am considering its management and funding after the current financial year. I have agreed to the request of the local authority associations that I meet them shortly to hear their views before reaching a decision. We consider all representations from interested bodies about the work of the Department or of the Manpower Services Commission.
