HC Deb 01 December 1987 vol 123 c496W
Mr. Madel

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will seek to amend employment protection legislation so as to remove the requirement on an employer to hold full consultation procedures with employees where 10 or more employees request redundancy rather than temporary lay-off; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Nicholls

The Government have no plans to amend the legislation on redundancy consultation. The present provisions which are contained in section 99 of the Employment Protection Act 1975 implement EC directive 75/129 on collective redundancies.
