§ Mr. Pawseyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will introduce legislation to extend the Land Compensation Act 1973 to include works undertaken by nationalised industries.
§ Mr. TraceyPart I of the Land Compensation Act 1973 creates an entitlement to compensation where the value of land is depreciated by the use of new public works and no other legal remedy is available. These provisions already apply to works undertaken by nationalised industries, and I am not aware of any problem requiring amending legislation.

Prior to the partial introduction of Housing Benefit in November 1982 and its full implementation from April 1983 such sums were included with rates (net of rebates).
