Land Compensation (Hansard, 27 March 1986)

§ Mr. Pawsey
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will introduce legislation to extend the Land Compensation Act 1973 to include works undertaken by nationalised industries.

§ Mr. Tracey
Part I of the Land Compensation Act 1973 creates an entitlement to compensation where the value of land is depreciated by the use of new public works and no other legal remedy is available. These provisions already apply to works undertaken by nationalised industries, and I am not aware of any problem requiring amending legislation.

Notes:

1. Expenditure is net of sales, fees and charges.

4. Rates rebates figures include grant paid in respect of certificated rate rebates to supplementary benefit recipients. Prior to the partial introduction of Housing Benefit in November 1982 and its full implementation from April 1983 such sums were included with rates (net of rebates).

§ Mr. Baldry
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment which local authorities in England received more in real terms in their rate support grant settlement for 1986 as compared with 1985.
