HC Deb 17 March 1986 vol 94 c9W
Mr. Pawsey

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the appropriate chief officer of police as to the level of policing of the M1 prior to the M25 exit generally and at peak times, and as to any changes in the level of policing planned at peak times in response to recent levels of congestion; and if he will make a statement on the substance of the report.

Mr. Giles Shaw

The policing of this section of the M1 is a matter for the chief constable of Hertfordshire. He has informed me that two patrol cars are allocated to the area, and additional resources are made available when necessary. It is expected that the current congestion problem will be considerably eased when the final section of the M25 is opened at the end of this year.
