HC Deb 16 June 1986 vol 99 cc433-4W
Mr. Michael Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many officials for whom he has responsibility currently have the power to enter and search premises, subject to statutory conditions; and, in each case, if he will indicate the statutory authority under which power is exercised.

Dr. Boyson

The information requested is as follows:

The Fisheries Act (N.I.) 1966—27 Officials.

The Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1978—135 officials acting as Inspectors under the Explosives Act 1875.

The Companies (N.I.) Order 1978—It is not possible to quantify the number of officials involved, since it is a matter of designating an appropriate individual to enter and search in cases as they arise.
