HC Deb 21 July 1986 vol 102 c66W
Mr. Hancock

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will increase the numbers of customs officers working at Portsmouth ferryport; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Brooke

Customs are constantly monitoring their staffing requirements and seeking to achieve greater efficiency in line with Government policy and as recently as January last the Portsmouth complement was increased by nearly 25 per cent.

The need for any additional resources for Customs is currently being considered by Ministers as part of the public expenditure survey.
