HL Deb 26 February 1986 vol 471 cc1153-4WA
Lord Chelwood

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How they now propose to ensure regular consultation with the East Sussex County Council about the implications for the County Plan of the Channel Tunnel and whether the port of Newhaven will have special provisions made for it, if need be.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (The Earl of Caithness)

There are no specific proposals for the establishment of regular consultations with East Sussex County Council concerning the implications of the Channel Tunnel for the County Plan.

As part of their continuous review of the County Structure Plan, the council need to assess the implications of development outside the county and to consider whether alterations to the plan are necessary.
