HC Deb 19 December 1986 vol 107 c773W
Mr. Norman Hogg

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to introduce performance bonuses for senior health service managers; how such bonuses will be determined; what is the range of payments intended; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John MacKay

The Scottish Home and Health Department is consulting Scottish health boards and the Common Services Agency on proposals for personal performance review and a performance-related pay scheme for general managers in the National Health Service in Scotland. The proposed scheme contains the main features of the scheme for performance pay which has been in operation in England since September. These include annual performance review measured against objectives previously agreed with the health authority.

I shall inform the House when the scheme is introduced and details will be placed in the Library.
