HC Deb 01 December 1986 vol 106 c481W
Mr. Cohen

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his answer in the Official Report, 19 November, column 201, how many police officers work on weeding records from the police national computer as a significant part of their duties; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis informs me that the weeding of the criminal names index of the police national computer currently forms a significant part of the duties of 16 members of the Metropolitan police civil staff. No police officers are employed on this work.
