Mr. Terlezki

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many police officers were murdered between the years 1960 to 1970, 1970 to 1980 and 1980 to 1985 in the United Kingdom as a whole and in (a) England, (b) Wales, (c) Scotland and (d) Northern Ireland, separately; and if he will make a statement.

In a case of homicide, it is not possible in the absence of a court decision to distinguish between offences of murder and manslaughter. The available information is given in the following table.
