HC Deb 05 March 1985 vol 74 c432W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what progress has been made in amending the building regulations to specify measures to prevent the ingress of gas around pipe ducts and cable entries.

Mr. Gow

I do not propose to amend the building regulations to specify such measures. The sealing of entries for services provided by statutory undertakings is covered by other regulations or codes and the British Standards code of practice for drainage, which has been revised to cover this point, will be published shortly. The guidance documents which will accompany the new building regulations to be made later this year will draw attention to the regulations and codes covering the sealing of entry points.
