Mr. Merchant

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what funds his Department gives to the British Youth Council; for what purposes; and what funds his Department gives to other voluntary organisations connected with youth.

The grants made by the Department to the British Youth Council are provided for educational purposes. The 1984–85 grant allocation is £107,750. Grants to other voluntary youth organisations are expected to amount to some £3.5 million in 1984–85.
