Capital Allocations (Manchester)

Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how the capital allocations for the city of Manchester for the four main expenditure blocks, education, housing (housing investment programme), social services and the other services blocks for 1985–86 compare, in money and real terms, with those for 1984–85; and if he will give the percentage change in value in each case.

The allocations for 1985–86 will be increased by 5 per cent. across all service blocks if the city of Manchester complies with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State's request for restraint on capital expenditure in 1984–85.
