HC Deb 10 December 1985 vol 88 c612W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what evidence his Department has on patient attitudes to the reduction in inpatient average stays for hospital maternity services, acute surgical and geriatric services, respectively.

Mr. Whitney

We are not aware of any national surveys covering this point but the patient's attitude, clinical condition and home circumstances would all be important considerations for any consultant in reaching a decision upon the date of discharge.
