asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what uses of DDT are approved for agricultural use in Scotland; and what is the area of land treated with this pesticide and the amount of this pesticide used each year since 1980.

All uses of DDT have been withdrawn under the pesticides safety precautions scheme from 1 October 1984. Comprehensive information about the usage of this substance is not available, but sample figures derived from surveys are as follows.
