HC Deb 30 October 1984 vol 65 cc927-8W
Mr. Cohen

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he has considered the documents presented to his Ministry by Greenham common peace camp women on 8 October regarding the readiness of American forces to base chemical weapons at Greenham common; and if he will make a statement,

Mr. Lee

I have seen the documents to which my hon. Friend refers. These are unclassified papers which concern standard safety procedures to be adopted in a range of contingencies which might arise in the event of military attack or natural disasters. They in no way suggest that there are plans to deploy chemical weapons to RAF Greenham common; indeed, Her Majesty's Government have received no request from the Government of the United States to base such weapons in this country.
