HC Deb 29 October 1984 vol 65 cc827-8W
Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the most recent figures for unemployment in the Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy districts by postcode areas; and by how much unemployment has increased or decreased in each area over the previous 12-month period.

Mr. Allan Stewart

The information is not available by local authority district. The table shows the number of unemployed claimants by postcode sector in the Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy jobcentre areas at 13 September 1984, the latest date for which information is available, and the change they represent compared with the figures at the corresponding date last year.

Note:

The unallocated category consists of those, mainly claimants who are required to attend unemployment benefit offices only four times a year and whose payments are not computerised, for whom a breakdown by postcode sector is not readily available.

Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many of those presently unemployed in the Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline districts have been unemployed (a) for six months, (b) for one year or more, (c) for two years or more and (d) for three years or more.

Mr. Allan Stewart
