asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the most recent figure for the numbers of closures reported to him since May 1979 in (a) Scotland, (b) Fife and (c) Dunfermline district.

There are no comprehensive statistics on closures. The number of closures affecting 10 or more workers notified to the Manpower Services Commission as due to occur in Dunfermline jobcentre area, Fife and Scotland, between May 1979 and 26 October 1984, were 20, 71 and 1,279, respectively.
