HC Deb 23 October 1984 vol 65 c562W
28. Mr. MacKenzie

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will now make a statement on proposals to increase the death grant.

Mr. Newton

We have been continuing to give consideration to our policy towards the death grant in the light of the response to the consultative document published in March 1982, which revealed no clear public consensus. This consideration will now be conducted as part of formulating wider Government proposals for social security in the context of the major reviews currently in progress.
