HC Deb 23 October 1984 vol 65 cc561-2W
29. Mr. Stuart Holland

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether the installation of the lithotripter at St. Thomas's hospital and the associated increase in the use of hospital beds will lead to a decrease of beds available for other hospital services; and whether such an increase due to the installation of the lithotripter will come from the general allocation for St. Thomas's hospital.

Mr. John Patten

Patients using the lithotripter service will be treated within the general allocation of urology beds in St. Thomas's hospital. The lithotripter will not lead to an increase in the number of urology beds at the expense of other services.
