HL Deb 29 November 1984 vol 457 cc1100-1WA
Lord Stanley of Alderley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

For which countries ECGD credit insurance guarantees can be obtained, whether these guarantees apply equally to agricultural and industrial export and whether the same arrangements with the same countries apply throughout the EEC.

Lord Lucas of Chilworth

There are currently only three overseas countries for which ECGD makes no credit insurance cover available. However, there are restrictions on a number of other countries, many of which are incurring difficulties in servicing their existing debts. In giving its guarantees in support of exports, ECGD does not discriminate between the agricultural and other sectors but takes account of the normal pattern of trade in the products involved. Arrangements in other European Community countries vary in detail, but in general terms ECGD provides similar support over a comparable range of countries.
