HC Deb 27 November 1984 vol 68 c427W
Mr. Freeman

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received concerning the future financing of the Open University; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Brooke

My right hon. Friend and I have received 1,455 letters, and one petition signed by 600 people. Most of the representations which have been passed to us by right hon. and hon. Members have been from Open University staff and present and past students. A small number of letters have also been received from noble lords, the Northern Ireland Assembly, professional bodies, local trades councils, borough and city councils, and interest groups.
