HC Deb 27 November 1984 vol 68 c427W
Mr. Sean Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what information he has as to the school leaving rate at 16 years of age among pupils in the borough of Knowsley.

Mr. Dunn

In January 1984, 18.8 per cent. of those pupils in maintained secondary schools in Knowsley who were aged 15 a year earlier were now aged 16. This implies that the school leaving rate by January 1984 of those reaching 16 in the academic year 1982–83 in Knowsley was 81.2 per cent. Some of these school leavers will have continued in full-time education in further education establishments.
